Some follow-up activities that are organized by curriculum.
Maple Math Connections
Go to the inquiry page to answer the inquiry questions present. Students will need to visualize data by graphing in order to answer the questions.
Have students work in groups to answer a question they are interested in and present their findings to the class, or have students come up with their own questions and use the data on this site to answer them. We have our Biomonitoring Stations as well as our Inquiry Station data to fully access.
Make your own data by tapping trees at your school! Check out this Lesson Plan.
Also check out this BLM of Maple based math questions you can print out for your students.
Biodiversity and Maple Trees
Check out my Biodiversity website to see if your schoolyard or local green space has maple trees. You can also identify other species using the easy keys I have created.
You can also investigate Divirsity within species (Maple), in our Inquiry Station page within this website.
Social Studies and Maple
Take a look at the tools and technology used for making Maple Syrup. Can you identify which are traditional indigenous technologies, settler technologies, and modern day technologies?
Research how maple syrup was made traditionally vs now. What has changed, what is the same?
