June 22nd is World Rainforest Day!

Rainforests are found all over the world. They help make the air we breathe, and the water we drink. Rainforests are home to more than half of the the world's plant and animal species.

June 21st is Father's Day!

We would like to wish all of the Gateway fathers, grandfathers, uncles and guardians a very Happy Father's Day! On this day, we would like to take the time to thank them for everything they do for us. Tell a loved one how much you love them and appreciate them. Happy Father’s Day to all!

Empty paper roll

Markers, crayons or pencil colours for extra details and decoration

June 8th is World Oceans Day!

World Oceans Day Craft Activity:

Paper Plate Fish Aquarium Craft:

Materials

•Paper Plate

•Blue paint or blue crayon

•Colorful paper for the fish and the sea weed

•Brown paper bag for the sand

•Glue

•Scissors

Instructions:

1 Paint (or color) your paper plate a pretty shade of blue. Set it aside for drying.

2. Cut out some fish, starfish and jellyfish or any design in your mind.

3. Cut out sea weed with two different shades of green.

4. For the sand to have texture, crumble up the brown paper bag and cut it into medium size squares.

5. Once the paint on your paper plate is dry ( if you are using paint) you can start gluing your sea creatures, weeds and the sand.

What makes you smile? Do something you love today!

When you smile, others smile too! Can you make someone in your family smile? Try telling them a joke or saying something nice to them.

May 30th is National Water a Flower Day!

Spring is here! You may notice that many plants and flowers are starting to grow.

Help a flower grow by giving it some water. Have fun watching it grow!

Eid Celebrations

Eid Mubarak!

Wishing all the families a happy and joyous Eid for those who celebrate this special day. On this day, families will dress up in their best or favourite clothing, feast on delicious foods and sweets, and give gifts to those around them. Some families go out to visit their friends and other family members. Families also attend prayers at the mosque. It is truly a big festival to celebrate the ending of Ramadan.

May 20th is World Bee Day!

Bees are our main pollinators. Pollinate means that bees help to move pollen from flower to flower so plants can make seeds. Bees pollinate many of the foods we eat and many of the flowering plants. Pollination is so important because it helps our vegetables, fruits and the crops grow. Without pollination, there wouldn’t be enough fruits and vegetables in the world.
