The Stalk Market is a Community Supported Agriculture initiative supported and run by the students of John Polanyi C.I. and the PACT Program that ran throughout the spring, summer and the fall of 2015. This project revolved entirely around the huge garden we had behind our school and the drive to provide fresh, organic and locally-grown produce the community. Our customers ordered a package of produce and make a pre-payment for the season. By doing so, they invested in the garden and, in turn, our organization. The money was entirely used for seeds, fertilizers, and other items needed to grow the vegetables. Once everything was grown and harvested, our customers received the collected produce in weekly installments, based on the package they had purchased. In addition to providing healthy vegetables to the community, the Stalk Market matched each purchase and donated bags of fresh produce to the Lawrence Heights Food Bank.

After the payment was made by the customer, they received a certificate as a proof of purchase. Members of The C.I.T.Y. along with a few helpful and eager volunteers worked hard to harvest the vegetables at the Garden, which were packaged in customized bags. These would be collected by their respective buyers during the pick-up dates.
