Sketchbook assignments calling for various artistic mediums, themes and subject matter.
Over the summer, at my cottage, I saw an owl twice! I've always wanted to see an owl in the wild so the moment was really special to me. I wanted to capture the moment in this artwork. I liked how with pointillism, I could make the artwork seem more like a fuzzy memory. I tried to make the background have a focal point around the owl to show motion, and that it was the main thing I remember.
I choose to draw a scene that happened during the weird hail/storm in summer. During that time my power go cut and the experience wasn't that great, but I did have a lot of fun spending my time with my family while we where trying to make dinner.
This is a photo taken by my dad of me and my brother on the beach at my cottage. I like this photo because it's really cool (like the actual reference photo) but also because there's another photo taken my grandfather from a distance of my dad, me, and my brother and it's really cute.
I chose a Stingray as my inspiration because one of my favourite memories is snorkelling in Costa Rica with my family. Where I saw a stingray.
This was the first concert I went to, even though me and my friends ended up being split up in the crowd the whole time it was a really fun night and a good experience, with lots of great music and great memories.
This is a memory of my grandparents old house.
This drawing is in memory of my grandfather, who passed away in August of this year, just two weeks before his 96th birthday. He lived in Ecuador, and this drawing is based on a photo from my visit with him in 2022, when we celebrated his 91st birthday. This was the second-to-last time I was able to visit him. It is a memory I will always cherish. In loving memory of mi abuelito, 1930-2026.
This work is about my fond memories of watching the famous film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. My favourite scene is the montage of Ferris, Sloane and Cameron at the museum— particularly the part where Cameron stares deeper and deeper into the iconic Seurat painting, the camera cutting back and forth between him and the painting. To insert myself into the scene, my work can be viewed as a kind of storyboard, with the first image of Cameron's eyes, the second of the Seurat painting, and the final panel of myself when I was younger, watching the film.
Aquarium with Margaret this summer very fun I like her kinda.
Dolly Parton passed away last month and for this assignment I wanted to recognize her as someone with power and importance. A strong modern leader. Dolly came from almost no money and worked her way up to a place where she had plenty, but she didn't take that in vain. She could have been a billionaire, yet she gave so much back to her community that she never reached that mark. She worked to create the imagination library that now supplies roughly 1/6 kids under 5 in the states with free books every single month. Over the years the imagination library has donated more than 304 million books. She promised money to students in her hometown as a safety net so they could stay in school and graduate. She raised graduation numbers significantly. She was colourful and so full of life and love for everyone. She was a leader in her kindness and her ability to see everybody as a human and regard them with deep respect. Rest in peace Dolly Parton.
This piece depicts a memory of when me and my friends performed a song at a venue. It was really fun but scary when we first got on stage.
One of the few vacations I've taken was to Thunder Bay and along the way we stopped in Wawa and saw the goose statue. I was little, so I was a bit nervous about travelling. However in that moment when I saw that big goose carving with a flock of geese flying over it, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world and it helped me get over my nerves. That moment has been stuck in my head ever since.
This piece shows my experience at an Ethel Cain concert. The lights were so beautiful, and I was so happy to hear the music I love so much being played live. It is definitely one of my favourite memories.
I chose Lil Baby because I think he is a great example of a modern leader who uses his platform to inspire people. A majority of people know him for his music but he also uses his voice to talk about real life issues, like in his song "The Bigger Picture." In my drawing I put Lil Baby right in the center with his arms stretched out to show how he connects with his audience and community. Around him I added words like Resilience leadership, inspiration, community, unity, and strength. I picked these certain words because they represent the positive messages he spreads through his work. for the background I drew buildings and a crowd to show how much people look up to him.
I admire ariana grande as she takes the time to address problems and promote healing aswell. She talks about a lot how she is ANTI-ice and i find that amazing that she expresses her political view to her audience and that's why I thought she was the best contemporary leader for me.
For this piece, I wanted to share a memory from grade 9 band. It was when I met another trombonist, and since then, we've never been in the same class. Every time I think about it, I miss it more than ever.
I chose to draw my cat Lucas because some of my favourite memories from my childhood include my pets, like spending time with Lucas.
Inspired by a favorite memory of traveling to Dubai with my family, this pointillism artwork represents the view from above near the beach. The concentrated blue dots form the vibrant backdrop, while the green stippling builds out the structure of the palm fronds, capturing the warmth and atmosphere of our time together on the coast.
I chose to do Erling Haaland for the Power and Importance assignment because he has inspired me and many people during this year's World Cup. Besides being a football player, Haaland has a funny internet personality which brought so much attention to his posts, bringing people from all over the world to connect and make viral memes. What inspires me most is that Haaland approaches every situation keeping calm and still being one of the best.
Natalie Portman has spoken up against sexism and the importance of women's rights and how they should be treated right. She inspires me because she speaks out for what's right in our world. I admire her work and that women can be successful.
This fond memory of mine depicts the time I went to my monthly mandatory family fc hangout where we ended up playing minecraft together for hours. We eventually found the rare pink sheep, which has a 1 in 600 chance of spawning.
