Sketchbook assignments calling for various artistic mediums, themes and subject matter.
I drew this picture because I was very impressed with the dolphin I saw when I was 6 years old in the Philippines with my family. But I can't think of it well, so I draw a picture that feels like this. Recently, I think I saw a lot of dolphins and other whales in Nova Scotia, but I don't have any memories in less than a year, so I drew a picture using my old memories of the Philippines.
The story takes place at my uncles cottage, it was the first week he purchased his Porsche. He took me for a ride in the forest and it was a lot of fun, we talk about this lots of times and it is a great memory and a fun story to tell.
I drew mountains with a car driving by because it shows a fond memory of mine, when I went with my family to Blue Mountain, and we watched the sunset rise over the mountains. The reason why I remember the memory so well is because of the inside joke that my dad and I share, because of the drive up there listening to this song called Brighter than the Sun - Colbie Caillat.Â
This story is about when my friend Carter and I were walking on Queen street, and we came across this pop up that was giving away ice cream for free. We made it in the Knick of time just before they closed, and the person working the station allowed me to work the soft serve machine on my own and give myself the "biggest portion of the day".
When I was younger, a family friend would always tell me the story of the Banshee around saint patrick's day. the Banshee is a spirit of a woman with red eyes from Irish folklore who either cries outside a house as a warning that someone in the family might die soon or if you look into her eyes you will drop dead. the story was a little scary, but I always loved hearing it every year.
My favourite story is the ones my grandfather would tell me about his walks to school from his village to the city, with the picture depicting my grandfather on his way to school.
When I was about 5 years old, we went on a family vacation to North Carolina. My sister at the time was 11 and I had been bothering her the entire car ride there, as little siblings do. On our very first evening after arriving, despite almost killing each other, we ended up making up on the beach and my parents took a photo of us in this exact pose. We always joke about this story at home because even though we are older and more mature, we still get into little spats but we know that we will always have each others back.
I drew popcorn because of a time when i used to live in Egypt we ran out of microwave popcorn so i decided why not make stove popcorn and that wasn't the best idea i had because i left the popcorn on the stove on higher heat and it got burnt so the whole kitchen was all smokey and my whole family till this day remind me of this moment even when i make popcorn!
This sketch represents the story of when my sister and I were little, and my parents surprised us with a trip to Disney World. They tricked us and told us we were in Georgia. We started to get suspicious when we saw all the Florida license plates, but they promised us that a lot of Floridians came to Georgia that time of year..? My drawing shows our car driving through so-called Georgia and seeing the Disney castle.
