As part of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements, all students must complete 40 hours of community involvement activities before graduation. These activities can take place in non- profit organizations, public sector institutions, or local businesses, as long as they provide a genuine contribution to the community and do not replace a paid worker. The purpose of this requirement is to help students develop civic awareness and a sense of the positive impact they can have in supporting and strengthening their communities. All community hours must be obtained outside of regular class instructional time. Hours can be completed at any time after a student graduates from Grade 8, including during the summer months.
Interested being a volunteer tutor for students in grade 3-8 on Wednesdays after school? Sign up here in order to help others and get community service hours.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, please apply as soon as possible.
