All Ontario high school students write the OSSLT during their Grade 10 year
Students who do not successfully pass the test in either Grade 10 or 11 are eligible for the OLC4O credit in Grade 12
In order to graduate, all students must pass either the OSSLT or the OLC4O course
Grade 10 students will:
Be guided through practice assignments in their Gr10 classes
Be given the opportunity to attend a Literacy Bootcamp (offered after school)
Attend an assembly that provides an overview of the test content and test day procedures
Repeat writers will:
Have the opportunity to meet with a teacher and review their previous score, as well as recommended areas to focus on
Repeat writers may also choose to take the OLC4O credit in Grade 12. This course counts as a credit and successful completion will fulfill the Literacy Requirement for graduation. Students may choose to take this during day school or through Continuing Education
