Note: In order to meet both your French Immersion Certificate and post-secondary admission requirements, we recommend you take as many French Immersion credits as possible during Grade 9 and 10.
EYCI offers a Specialist High Skills Major in Manufacturing.
The SHSM in Manufacturing provides students with a strong foundation for a wide variety of careers in the manufacturing sector. Our SHSM program includes a bundle of the following Grade 11/12 credits:
4 major credits that provide knowledge and skills specific to the manufacturing sector (choose from courses in Technology, Computers and Sciences)
3 other compulsory credits in English, Math and Science from the Ontario curriculum
2 co-operative education credits that provide authentic learning experiences in a manufacturing-related workplace setting
Plus:
Six sector-recognized certifications and/or training courses
Experiential learning and career exploration activities
“Reach ahead” experiences connected with a student’s post-secondary plans

CoOperative Education is a great opportunity for Gr11 & 12 students to gain valuable work experience while earning their credits. This can help build a resume, explore potential future work interests, or help earn hours towards their apprenticeship. "Dual credit programs are programs approved by the Ministry of Education that allow students, while they are still in secondary school, to take college or apprenticeship course that counts towards both their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree, or a Certificate of Apprenticeship.Dual credit programs are intended to assist secondary school students in completing their OSSD and making a successful transition to college and/or apprenticeship programs." "The TDSB offers SWAC in partnership with four GTA colleges (Centennial, George Brown, Humber and Seneca College). This program offers students between the ages of 17-20 the opportunity to earn secondary school credits and two college-delivered Dual Credits on a college campus, which also count towards their OSSD and college transcript.
The primary focus of the SWAC program is to support students who are disengaged and underachieving with the potential to succeed in an adult learning environment." (From the TDSB site. Link below)
