What is SWAC?
The School Within A College (SWAC) program is a partnership between the Toronto District School Board and several GTA colleges. The primary focus of the program is to support students, looking to re-engage through an adult learning environment and reach their academic potential moving towards earning their OSSD. SWAC is designed to offer students a full-time opportunity to earn 4+ credits in a semester alongside their home school. Students remain registered and supported by their home school throughout, we are not an alternative school, but instead an alternative program.
For full program information, please use the SWAC menu above, and see our SWAC Sessions & Site pages
Is SWAC right for me?
Can you answer YES to most of the following
Are you looking for a new learning environment but want to maintain the roots you've built at your home school?
Are you between the ages of 17-20 and registered at a TDSB school as a Grade 12 student?
Have you, or will you, at least 22 credits when starting the program?
Have you, or will you have, successfully completed ENG3C/U?
Do you have independent learning skills, with the potential to succeed in an adult learning environment?
Will you be able to commit to an in person program where your attendance is an important factor in success?
Do you need a learning enviornment that is flexible but provides the consistency of one teacher?
Do you have credit recovery potential?
If you are not sure if the program is right for you, it is best to start with your guidance counsellor to discuss program options further. If you are not currently registered at a TDSB school please contact our Student Success Coordinator at Amanda.St.Louis@tdsb.on.ca
