Child Care Assistant Program Overview

The Burnhamthorpe Adult Learning Centre Child Care Assistant (CCA) Certificate program is operated by The Toronto District School Board which has successfully graduated hundreds of Child Care Assistant students over the years.

The Child Care Assistant program teaches students about the important role of a Child Care Assistant while studying behaviour and development from birth to 12 years. Students will develop the skills required to communicate effectively with and about children.

Many employment opportunities are available upon completion of the program in a variety of care settings including public daycare centers, community centers, large private businesses and family resource centers.

The CCA program includes 9 weeks of classroom theory and 9 weeks of on the job training in a child care facility.
