Dance

Dance at notre dame

Dance at Notre Dame is open to all students and is offered at every grade level. You do not need prior dance experience to participate! Throughout the Program you will learn a variety of dance styles and techniques including Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip-Hop and Latin Ballroom. Dance is incorporated throughout student life at ND. Dancers perform in a number of school events including school liturgies, assemblies and community gatherings!

dance teams

Notre Dame is home to two TCDSB Dance Teams: Ovation & Avidity. We hold auditions every fall for these competitive dance teams. Ovation is a Contemporary ensemble and Avidity is a group of Hip-Hop and street dancers. These teams have competed at the Kiwanis Dance Festival and TCDSB’s Dance Off! Competition. Grade 9 students are encouraged to try out for the team as both teams take new members every year!

dance off!

Notre Dame hosts the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s annual Dance Competition: Dance Off! You can compete at the event as a member of one of our Dance Teams or enjoy the festivities as a Notre Dame student. You won’t want to miss it!

Drama

National Theatre School DramaFest

The National Theatre School DRAMAFEST (formerly Sears Drama Festival) is a celebration of student theatre work from across the province of Ontario. The festival provides workshops, professional guidance and adjudication from working theatre artists. Awards, prizes and scholarships are awarded each year for students who have demonstrated excellence in writing, directing, performance, design (sound, costume, projection, and scenic design) as well as stage management.

ND at NTS DRAMAFEST

At Notre Dame, we use the festival as a platform to tell stories that are important to us. It is a unique opportunity to share the voice of young women with students from other schools and the theatre community as a whole.

In previous seasons, Notre Dame productions have garnered numerous awards (so many we can’t fit them all in the drama room!) and Notre Dame students have also been the recipients of coveted scholarships.

Participating in the festival is engaging in the journey of self discovery. Click here for details on our 2020 multi award winning student production "The Weight of the Cape."
