Quentin Commanda
Quentin Commanda is Anishinaabe from Nipissing First Nation. He and his siblings were raised with traditional Anishinaabe teachings. His spirit name, given to him by his Grandmother, is Manitou Nemeen which translates to Spirit Dancer. Quentin has spent many years in the Bronx and Toronto, honing his talents as a Bboy(Break Dancer), Emcee, Writer, DJ, and filmmaker. Currently his focus is traditional art and painting.
The video below provides a detailed look at what Quentin Commanda's session will encompass. Students will need to have on hand: Paper, pencils, pencil crayons, markers etc. No specific artist Materials are necessary. The session will involve a talk by Quentin AND an opportunity for students to create their own Medicine Wheel.
