Part three centers on collecting the story from their elder of choice via the interview they prepared for in part two. Students will practice interviewing and familiarize themselves with the habits of good interviewers before conducting their own interview. This part closes with an encouragement to show appreciation for the elders that shared their time and stories with students.
This mini-lesson will provide students a model of how to conduct their interview. It will also give them an opportunity to practice being a good listener and conducting a practice interview.
This mini-lesson teaches students how to take notes about their interviews. It will also provide them with a chance to practice interviewing one more time, this time adding time at the end to take notes on their reflections.
This mini-lesson will encourage students to share their appreciation with the person they interviewed. It will lead up to an assignment where they are asked to choose a way to show their gratitude for their elder.
