Part 1

Exploration of Self

Part one of the unit centers students' experiences during the pandemic as the catalyst for taking on the oral history project. Students are given the space to express their feelings around school closings at different points during the pandemic along with their teacher and classmates before jumping into the purpose of the project they will be taking on during the rest of the unit.

Lesson 1: Six-Word Memoirs

This mini-lesson will focus on debriefing how students have felt at different points during the pandemic. Students will transform their responses to prompts and turn them into six-word memoirs. These memoirs can reflect feelings or events that led to those feelings.
