Introduction:
In this report we will be talking about the huge problem of climate change. As a result of climate change, humans and wild animals are facing new survival challenges. Droughts that happen more often and more severe, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, and warming oceans can all hurt animals, ruin their habitats, and disrupt people's lives and societies. How can we help to do away with the things that are harming the world? We need to band together as a planet and stop things like fossil fuels, deforestation and plastic production. If we all did this then we would be able to keep this planet forever, but there are people who are greedy and they will do everything they can to make sure that never happens. In this report we will talk about the effects of climate change and what we can do to help nurture our world to the way it used to be.
Paragraph 1:
What is climate change? Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. If you have heard of the ozone layer you'll know that it has a big effect on climate change but exactly what effect does the ozone layer have on climate change? Ozone depletion and climate change are linked in a number of ways, but ozone depletion is not a major cause of climate change. Atmospheric ozone has two effects on the temperature balance of the Earth. It absorbs solar ultraviolet radiation, which heats the stratosphere. All of this makes the earth a way hotter place and it makes stuff like icebergs melt and the sea levels rise. If you know anything about climate change then you will know that carbon is a massive factor in climate change but who are the biggest carbon producers? China is the world's largest contributor to CO2 emission–a trend that has steadily risen over the years. The country now produces 9.9 billion metric tons of CO2 a year. Although China may produce the most, they don't produce the most per capita. The largest carbon producer per capita is actually a very small country by the name of United Arab Emirates. This is because they have very little population.
Paragraph 2:
I think everyone knows that climate change is a big problem but how will it actually affect us? Climate change can also impact human health by worsening air and water quality, increasing the spread of certain diseases, and altering the frequency or intensity of extreme weather events. Rising sea level threatens coastal communities and ecosystems. Even though there are many people making a big effort to put a stop to climate change, there are things that will never go back to the way they were. What are the irreversible effects of global warming? Scientists have predicted that long-term effects of climate change will include a decrease in sea ice and an increase in permafrost thawing, an increase in heat waves and heavy precipitation, and decreased water resources in semi-arid regions.
Paragraph 3:
We have a very limited amount of time to reverse the damage we have caused but exactly how long do we have to stop climate change? Earth has 11 years to avoid the worst scenarios. Carbon dioxide emissions are rebounding after a dip in 2020, and researchers say that at the current rate, Earth's "carbon budget" will be exhausted in roughly 11 years. We need to get it together if we want to keep this beautiful planet and hopefully we do it in time. What are some solutions to climate change? The best solutions I've found are: Stop fossil fuel mining, carbon tax and use alternative transport options. I determined that the best solution is taking alternative transport options because it lowers carbon emissions, it takes traffic off the road and it increases air quality in big cities.
Paragraph 4:
I have talked about all of the things that are bad about climate change but how can we actually stop climate change? Given what we know about the threats that climate change poses to humans, we must take swift action. As a global community, we need to soon level off and then decrease the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. We need to speak up against people who burn fossil fuels, we need to speak up against people cutting down forests. We need more people to take public transport or carpool or bike instead of driving. The faster we do this, the less damage we will cause to our world and our way of life. The higher chance we will have to save our beautiful planet. Otherwise we will lose it forever. We need to stand up and speak out against climate change before it is too late.
Conclusion:
I have covered the problems we are facing with climate change, I have covered the causes, and the solutions. After reading this you will know that climate change is a huge problem and we need to face it before it is too late. We need to band together as a planet and stop things like fossil fuels, deforestation and plastic production. If we all did this then we would be able to keep this planet forever. If we do not pull it together then we will be forced to move to another planet and start all over again, and no one wants to do that. Thank you for reading.
