Mr Atkins posted an article on google plus about why his cream bottle looks like it is about to explode. One possible reason why it looks like it is going to explodes is to do with cows milk. When a cow doesn't get milked for a few day it becomes distorted and sick. Some dairy cows that haven't been milked for a week have been known to explode. So maybe there is something In the cows milk that releases pressure that causes the bottles to explode. In 2017 A french fitness instagram model was killed when a whipped cream dispenser exploded and hit her the chest. However that whipped cream dispenser had N20 (nitrogen oxide) in it so scientist are predicting that the cause of the injury was the N20 exploding causing the cream bottle to act like a missile and killing the girl. That wasn't the only case though. In 2014 two french people were also injured when the same thing happened. But who does this link to Mr Atkins's exploding cream bottle. When milk starts to go off it produces a gas called lactose. You may be thinking but lactose is a sugar. When champagne is made the grapes get fermented the lactose produces gas which causes the champagne to be bubbly. Thats why the cork shoots off the top of a bottle. When cream starts to go off the lactose starts to ferment which causes the bottle do expand and possibly explode. So I think this is the cause of the problem. The cream is going off so the lactose produces gas which causes the cream bottle to expand and explode. This is also what happened to my sour dough the sugar started to ferment causing the top of the sourdough starter to have a layer of bubbles on the top.
My sourdough bubbles.
