Ancestry Of Tamatea Ariki Nui
Created by Drake
In 1300 A.D Tamatea Ariki Nui migrated to New Zealand. Tamatea Ariki Nui was a hard-working, influential leader, who supervised buildings, irrigation, carving and canoe-making. He came to New Zealand in the 1300s from the cook island in Rarotonga, he went from Rarotonga to all the islands in the cook island and then travelled down to New Zealand.
Biography
Tamatea Ariki Nui was born in the 1300s and came to NZ in 1350 he was a hard-working man and he could have moved from working too hard for no money. He had 4 jobs and never got paid apart from food and water which he had to catch to live and feed his family.
Push factor 1
My theory is Tamatea Ariki Nui came to New Zealand because of the natural disasters in Rarotonga which could have led him to New Zealand. The Volcanoes and the Tsunami could have swept Rarotonga clean. That's one of the reasons why he had to go out and find other Islands for his family and his tribe to live safely. If there was a Hefty Tornado that hits Rarotonga then the coconuts would fly off the trees and come smashing their homes/ tribes.
Push factor 2
My second push factor is why Tamatea Ariki Nui left his homeland? Is it that he and his crew were looking for better land to live on because there were too many people on the small island that he and his crew lived on. I think they needed more land to live or to have new lives. He and his crew set off in their waka’s and paddled from island to island so they can be happier than they were before they got to New Zealand.
Pull factor 1
One of the pull factors I think Tamatea Ariki Nui came to New Zealand is. He needs lots of resources which he needs to live in his day to day life. If he needed to grow his resources he would need heaps of land to grow and trade with his fellow friends. The different resources that he didn’t have, probably wood, shelter/home, wakas/boats, tools to farm or kill. That is one of the reasons I think he left Cook island to have a better and happier life.
Pull factor 2
I believe that the second pull factor is when he moved to New Zealand he would have no enemies. No enemies mean that he gets better trades to build things he needs and give them what they need, friends, no fight about stuff that is imported or dumb. He would meet more people or the people will live in his area to create a big or small tribe of his own. If he had no enemies he would have one of the biggest tribes in New Zealand.
Conclusion
The most important factor I think is the lack of resources in Raro and there are heaps of trees but in NZ around 1300, 1400 there was a massive fire that killed heaps of trees and he and his lost lots of resources and food aka the Moa.
