Tangipahoa Parish School System has opted to allow all sixth grade students the opportunity to earn a Carnegie unit (1/2 credit) for Computer Technology Literacy through the participation of a course which focuses on digital literacy skills. Each school has been given the flexibility to decide how the course will be delivered with guidance from the district. It is recommended that the Google Applied Digital Skills Curriculum be used for this course.
Google Applied Digital Skills is a project based curriculum and teaches the skills students need to succeed in the classroom and on the job. Projects include research, analyzing data, collaboration and communication and more. This curriculum is built around the Google Apps for Education, which include Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Maps and many more. It is a curriculum that engages the students and connects them to real world experiences.
