Photoabsorption reactions are greatly interesting for a number of reasons

1. They tell us about the structure of nuclei such as looking for deformation

2. We can use them to tell us about the nuclear symmetry energy

3. They help us to understand neutron capture and production reactions in stars, reactors, people etc

We study photoabsorption in nuclei in a number of different ways including using real and virtual photons and coincidence studies of nuclei
