The Personalized Precalculus Program (PPP) at Texas A&M University is a three-week, fully online program designed to improve the success rates of prospective students who will be taking a calculus course at Texas A&M. The short summer sessions are designed to reinforce, or reteach, the prerequisite concepts and skills that are needed for students to be successful in calculus. This type of on-demand learning is helpful for all students, but particularly those students who have demonstrated weakness in their mathematical skill set as gauged by their score on the TAMU Math Placement Exam (MPE). We strongly encourage students who scored 70% or below on their MPE to enroll in a summer PPP session to strengthen their skills before taking their necessary math course in the fall semester.

Students who earn an A or B in a pre-calculus course (Texas A&M MATH 140 equivalent if you want to start in MATH 142; MATH 150 equivalent if you want to start in MATH 147, 151, or 171) indicate readiness for calculus at Texas A&M. You can check for equivalent courses at most institutions in the Transfer Course Equivalency guide. Once you’ve completed the class, send your transcript to Texas A&M.
If you're looking for a cheaper option, you can study independently and then retake the MPE. One retake will become available starting July 1 after at least a two-week waiting period from your first attempt. You can find some study resources on the Math Learning Center website.
