The MPE will become available one month before your NSC. You will receive an email alert with a link once it is available. (Exception - if your NSC is after July 11, you will need to complete your MPE early. You will receive an email with early access in June so you can complete your first attempt before July 11.)
The Math Placement Exam is a 90-minute online exam used to assess students' math skills. This is an important tool to help advisors determine the math course in which students should enroll.
Students are expected to take the exam on their own without the help of others.
Students must abide by the Aggie Code of Honor.
Calculators (of any type) are not allowed while taking the MPE.
No additional resources (e.g., textbooks, cheat sheets, formula charts, web searches, etc.) of any type are allowed on MPE.
Do not use Internet Explorer when accessing the MPE.
It may take 24 hours for scores to appear in Howdy.
Practice problems for all Math Placement Exams can be found on Math Learning Center (MLC) Website.
Testing accommodations are provided to allow students with documented disabilities an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. To receive accommodations for the MPE, the student must submit disability documentation and their specific accommodation requests at least two weeks prior to the preferred testing date. Please contact Disability Resources at (979)-845-1637 or visit http://disability.tamu.edu
Students taking their MPE after December 1, 2024 can temporarily find their MPE scores in the Grades tab of the MPE Community on Canvas. The scores are also stored in Howdy for future reference.
