I don't see any MPE in the platform.
If the community isn't in your Canvas community, you probably aren't quite into your availability window yet. It should be available to take one month before your New Student Conference.
If it's already in your availability window and there is no community, contact math-placement@tamu.edu to update your account with your declared major and UIN.
You likely are not in your availability window yet. The exam and its community will become available one month before your New Student Conference. You will receive an email with information on how to access it.
I took dual credit courses in high school or have AP credit. Do I still need to take the MPE?
Yes, all incoming freshmen are required to take the MPE, regardless of high school coursework.
Send an email to math-placement@tamu.edu. In the body of the email be sure to include your full name, UIN, declared major, and whether you were taking the MPE for MATH 151/147/171 or the MPE for MATH 142. Someone will help you within 1 working day (excluding weekends or holidays). You can also call (979)-458-0015.
If you just accepted your application to TAMU you should wait 24 hours for the system to update. The applicant tab will show up once your acceptance has been fully processed. If you are a current student, you will not have an applicant tab, but you can find the MPE link on the My Records tab.
No, you do not need to take the MPE.
First, remember the exam is not available until a month before your New Student Conference. If you're in that window, the systems loads all data and creates the appropriate permissions to take the MPE overnight. So, try taking the MPE the day after you sign up for the NSC and you will likely be able to take the exam.
Once incoming freshmen have attended their NSC and registered for classes their status in the computer system is updated to "Current Student". This does require an overnight update, so the status is not updated until the day after their NSC. Once their status is updated, the student can follow the directions on the Current TAMU Students Webpage.
