Redwood Music is honored to have a number of talented, experienced musicians work in our department to help instruct our students throughout their musical journey. We will be adding more of their profiles as we build out the site.
Arne Frager has been a recording engineer/producer and independent studio owner for 36 years in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Arne founded Spectrum Studios in Venice, California, in 1973 and applied his music and technology background to the recording business. This included Spectrum Studios, Mars Studios/Hollywood, and Hollywood Central Studios in 1984-87, where a Clare Fischer album he recorded and mixed won a Grammy Award. All three LA studios had major hit records with major artists signed to the major record labels.
In 1987, Arne moved with his family to the San Francisco Bay Area and took over The Plant Studios of Sausalito California in 1988. He was able to re- establish its reputation as San Francisco's premier professional recording facility during his 20 year ownership tenure there. Under his leadership The Plant Studios has produced over 50 #1 hits throughout the 1990's and 2000’s, including megahits such as “Supernatural“ for Carlos Santana and “Before These Crowded Streets” for Dave Matthews Band. Arne has also produced many live music shows for radio, TV, and live performance. This includes production of the live music shows at the Sausalito Art Festival for 20 years, and the radio show “Live From the Plant on KFOG”.
During his career as recording engineer, producer, entrepreneur and studio owner, he has designed and built several successful professional recording studios. He has produced and/or engineered on albums for such artists as Michael Jackson, Prince, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Count Basie, John Lee Hooker, Starship, and many others during his career in the music industry. He has recorded many large orchestral recordings as recording engineer for Clare Fischer, including songs on 20 albums for Prince, among others.
When Metallica recorded an album with the San Francisco Orchestra, Arne was a supporting engineer for the recordings and mixing with Michael Kamen, the mixing took place at Arne’s studio “The Plant Studios” in Sausalito. He has also digitally mastered albums for “The Secret Life of Plants” by Stevie Wonder, and several titles for Varese Sarabande Records.
Arne continues to produce and record singer/songwriters and bands as an independent producer and publisher for A&R Music. He records at his private studio and in Bay Area or LA studios as independent producer. For nearly all of his career he has focused on discovery and development of new artists in the music business and building companies that focused on the creation of popular music and working with the creators.
Steve Bergman is a native of Marin County. He has many years of experience teaching and playing several woodwind instruments. He is adept in many musical styles, including classical, jazz, rock, and funk.
A dedicated teacher, he has a large private studio and also coaches woodwind instruments at San Rafael High School and Brandeis Marin. Steve is the recipient of the Marin Symphony’s Private Teacher of the Year Award. He has consistently placed students in both the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Crescendo Orchestra. He has also placed students in the San Francisco Youth Orchestra, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, Young People’s Youth Orchestra of Berkeley, Cazadero Music Camp, Interlochen Arts Camp, Stanford Jazz Camp, Nor-Cal Band, California All-State Band, California Jazz Conservatory, and the San Francisco Music Conservatory. Steve has served on the board of Marin Music Chest and has had several students win the Marin Music Chest Competition.
In addition to teaching, Steve is a well-respected performing musician. He plays in various orchestras and jazz bands. He has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony and the Marin Symphony. He has also appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Rhonda Bradetich is a native of the state of Idaho. She taught for over a decade at the North Idaho College campus of the University of Idaho, as well as privately. She studied both chamber music and jazz with Pulitzer Prize Winner Gunther Schuller, who was in residence at the Festival at Sandpoint during the summers. She was also the booking agent for Goldenflute Arts and has toured around the country with her chamber music ensembles. In addition, she was a regular player with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Monterrey, Mexico.
In 2008-9, she played piccolo for the Honolulu Symphony, living in Waikiki. Then she moved to the Bay Area, where she became a substitute with the San Francisco Symphony as well as other orchestras in this area. She has soloed with the Spokane Symphony and performed for the Idaho Governor’s Awards in the Arts.
In 2011 she received a Fellowship from the Idaho Commission on the Arts, which she utilized to travel to Southeast Asia as a US Delegate for the Conference for Asian Arts Promotion; she was then able to study gamelan music in both Solo, Java and in Ubud, Bali. Ms. Bradetich works with the nonprofit chamber music organization Music at the Mission in Fremont, and plays with the jazz group Shades of Gray in Piedmont. She has very much enjoyed focusing on teaching younger students since she moved to Sausalito in 2011; first as a coach with the Mill Valley Middle School, and more recently at the New Village School.
Kayla Gold Kayla opened the Kayla Gold Vocal Studio in 1995 and works extensively with performance-oriented teenagers. Her students are often cast in leading roles in local and regional theater and alumni have gone on to work professionally in musical theater and opera. Kayla has also coached adults including celebrity folk/rock artists and has been the go-to vocal coach in recording studio sessions. She is a San Francisco Theater Critics Circle nominated actress and currently plays rhythm guitar, cajon and sings in the Americana Trio, Thirsty Ground.

Tyler Graves is a trumpet player and educator in the greater San Francisco Bay area. He can be found playing jazz with both Good Karma, and the Starduster Orchestra, a North Bay big band, as well as at NBA Warrior games with the Bay Blue Notes (BDEntertainment). He also enjoys collaborating with other local musicians in special projects, such as in May 2019 when he and fellow musicians provided music, personal arrangements and compositions, for Academy of Art University's yearly fashion show. Tyler Prides himself on being a well-rounded player, as well as an active music educator. He currently holds a brass studio in the North Bay, works with the Redwood High School and Tamalpais High School music departments and leads the Brass Band at College of Marin.
