WAL understand what influences an authors perspective

SC I can identify parts of an authors life that made them write certain stories, characters, events or in a certain way

Week 3/4

• read text together as a group - comprehension questions led by teacher
• create fact profile about author
• Research author, and create information report about them with a buddy (include images, maps, facts)

Week 5/6

• Create a timeline of their publications, matched with a timeline of their life
  • look for any similarities or influences between the two timelines

Week 6

• Select one of his books and read it independently or with a buddy.
• For your chosen book, create
  • book review
  • character review (change over time, traits, appearance, relationship web)
  • an explanation text of what you think influenced the writer to write this book/about this topic/character etc, and give reasons for your ideas

• Read through these slides with a buddy.
• Discus as a class any words or phrases you don't understand and clarify with each other (teacher to give meaning if no students know).
• Use the printed picture of an octopus to rewrite a short summary of each of the 8 aspects IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Glue this into your writing book.
