  • Read story 1 "Marcus Thomas" (audio)

  • Comprehension questions about Marcus Thomas (make a copy, fill out with answers and share on your blog).

  • Read story 2 "Underground Explorers"

  • Compare and contrast the two stories using this Venn Diagram - the stuff that is the same in both stories goes in the middle (yellow box), but if it is only in one story then it only goes on that stories side.

  • Other create ideas

    • Make a DLO brainstorming all the equipment someone might need to go caving.

    • Make a DLO explaining how caves are formed.

    • Research caving in New Zealand - try to find an example of a vertical cave and an alpine cave (pictures to support your description). State their location and when they were discovered. Use a map to pinpoint where they are.

    • Make a list of all the new words you learnt from this page. Write their meanings and/or a sentence.

    • create your own drawing of a cave system (put in as many tomos, layers, water tables etc as you like) and label them. If possible, add in some cavers as well.

    • research the Bulmer cave and create a fact profile about it.

    • research the Sarawak Chamber and create a fact profile about it.

Maths: There are 3 options - you choose which one suits your needs and level best (or do all of them if you really want..)

If you are not sure, start with Option 1 and maybe try Option 2. Watch my explanation video, then make a copy of the slideshow. Make a screencast showing yourself solving the problems, so I can watch it and see where you might need help. If you are unsure, do the first few problems, blog the screencast, I will watch it and give you some feedback.

Each one of us (including me!) is going to write a massive recount about this week - each day of the week can be its own paragraph. We can title it 'the weirdest week ever' or something like that lol.

I will link mine here - Miss Ashley's Week 6 recount.

On Friday, we can share them with each other to see what we have all been doing and give each other feedback.

Maths:

Practise your addition and subtraction in algorithm (if you have forgotten, see video to the left)

Solve these problems in your maths book or on a piece of paper. When you have finished, send me a photo (as proof) and I will email you the answers so you can check them yourself.

Do them in order - #1, #2, #3, #4. If you can only do #1 and #2, that's algood! #3 and #4 are extras!
