We are finding information on the efforts made to save our native NZ bird the Kakapo

we are writing paragraphs to explain the importance of Kākāpō Recovery

we are using the burger model to structure our paragraphs

Write 3 paragraphs on the following topics:

  • What is a kakapo and what habitat do they survive best in?
  • What has led to Kakapos becoming endangered?
  • What are people doing to help kakapo?

WALT:

We are learning to write reports on the Street Art painted around the city of Christchurch.

LO:

We will write a report with subtitles based on 'Paint the City'

  1. we will read the report- Paint the City
  2. we will have a class discussion about the main points in the report including- Where/what/ why/ how /who
  3. We will brain storm each point as a class

We will include the following in our report:

  • Introduction statement
  • Three main ideas with subtitles
  • conclusion with your personal opinion- do you think its a good/ bad idea to put street art around Christchurch city? explain why?
  • edit your report
  • complete final published copy

we are learning to research and summarise how the orphanage cares for the elephants in Kenya.

LO:

I can identify the important information and write it as a summary.


  1. Read the book Wild Orphans
  2. Recall the important facts
  3. Think Pair Share with a partner
  4. Research the Organisation - Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
  5. Identify what the keepers do to help the baby elephants
  6. Write a summary of information.
