Portrait

This is a yearlong course where students will learn in depth techniques to achieve portraits in color. Mixing skin tones, face anatomy, and how to capture expressions will all be studied. From realism to abstract, students will use mediums like oil, gauche and watercolor. This course will explore multiple avenues of recreating masterpieces and masterpieces of their own. Students will study famous portraits and the stories behind them as art history will be touched on alongside the course. The aim is by the end, students will feel more confident in approaching the human face. This class should be taken after students have completed “Color Theory'' and “Life Drawing” as both are needed to successfully build upon. Students will create multiple pieces of artwork to be displayed at the Spring Semester Gallery Night where attendance is mandatory.
