Oil Painting

This is a yearlong course designed for students who want to continue to improve color theory and explore the medium of painting. Students will learn the beginning techniques of oils. From best practices to glazing and learning indirect vs. direct painting methods, students will explore the full range of oils. Subjects to be painted include landscapes, still lifes, animals, and people in this class with an emphasis on building the principles learned in “Color Theory” and the drawing skills from “Life Drawing”. Students will create multiple paintings to be displayed at the Spring Semester Gallery Night where attendance is mandatory.
