Life Drawing

This is a yearlong course designed for students who have had previous art instruction and want to continue to improve their drawing skills. Students will learn from the same drawing curriculum the Old Masters used at the Academies in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From gesture drawing to portraits and still lifes, Life Drawing will expand on principles developed in previous courses such as value, space, and form. Designed to help students train their eye, this course will explore in depth light theory, correct proportions, weight, volume, and tools to self-correct their drawings. This course is meant to be taken after “Color Theory”. Students will create multiple works of art to be displayed at the Spring Semester Gallery Night where attendance is mandatory.
