Week 9 Thanksgiving week writing prompt:

Thanksgiving is a holiday widely observed by Americans of all sorts. Its history is more complex than many people realize (see the readings/video on Social Studies home page). This includes painful reminders to some people that the myth of the first Thanksgiving represents a story of unwanted change and misery.

I enjoy Thanksgiving for less political reasons: a chance to gather with friends and family, relax, eat a nice meal, and at its best, include new people. I've always loved the fact that many immigrants I've worked with are excited to participate.

This year, of course, like everything else, has been severely disrupted. So I am trying to think more than ever about the good things in my life. How about you? What are the good things that keep you going?

In a well-organized 3-5 paragraph essay, discuss what you are grateful for.

You can email me your work at cjensen@tacomacommunityhouse.org.

A google document is preferable, but I can accept any format.
