There are several steps an individual must take to become a student in the GED program at Tacoma Community House initially a potential student will make contact with the education department either over the phone or in person in the case of some folks who are referred from agencies like DSHS our staff will reach out to them next, people come to the agency for an orientation this includes an introduction to the services TCH offers and the filling out of required paperwork then people who are still interested come back for testing in order to be placed in the right class level this consists of reading, math, and writing assessments although they can be really annoying, and nobody really wants to do them finally, students arrive on their first day to pick up schedules and join their classes
