This piece presents the relationship between language and books linking to my topic title ‘communication’. The piece reflects my relationship with written communication and dyslexia, creating an interactive reading space constructed with materials in connection to books. The hand-made books show how written communication can be abstracted through the perception of the dyslexic mind and the symptoms that can occur, presenting the concept of distortion and clarity of language that can be made with or without materials that are used to aid dyslexic readers. This immersive chaotic space is opposed to the traditional peaceful atmosphere of a reading environment, and rather pushes the idea of discomfort and the barrier that is created between books and dyslexic people in contrast to the often close relationship that forms between books and reader.
