This is my final piece, the foundation being my topic title, ‘Life and Death’. The piece aims to unite two concepts I have been exploring throughout my project; the skeletal form and the complexity of nature on a molecular level. The foundation of my project is essentially the science of life. One aspect of life is our mortality which is very prevalent within the topic of life but also one which juxtaposes it. In a literal manifestation, I began investigating disease and death by depicting the skeletal form in a variety of different ways. I have a distinct curiosity about biology and how the world operates on a molecular level. During the progression of the project, I focused on nature, which led me to depict natural forms on a microscopic level, which is where the concept colourful cellular forms stems from. To further emphasise this interest in biology, I have incorporated biological diagrams which encompass integral chemical and molecular processes which keep us alive. The outcome is a juxtaposition of two concepts which dispute each other.
