Reading
In Reader's Workshop, students explore fictional books in a series and the basic elements of literature. They will begin with a novel of their choice that is the first in a series. They will also listen to a read-aloud every day. They are exploring the genre, seeking to find their reading identity.
Writing
In Writer's Workshop, students are working on finding their writer's voice in narrative writing. They are using mentor pieces to strengthen their writing as well as exploring figurative language to enhance their writing. We will have a writing celebration at the end of our unit for students to share their pieces.
