March 2021: Students learned about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and looked at his Sunflower paintings! Students then made their own sunflowers out of model magic, and collaged and painted a vase with a background.
Dec 2019: I am SO impressed with the dragon eyes that 4th grade has created! We learned about drawing implied texture and coloring using VALUE!
3/1/19: Students learned about ABSTRACT portraits! They studied the artist Sandra Silberzweig. They used chalk pastels for the vibrant colors!
11/29/18: Students learned about the contemporary Folk Artist named Heather Galler. In the spirit of winter weather heading our way, students drew their own hot chocolate mugs in Galler's style. Using collage and oil pastels, students made their own mug artwork!
Recent Work: 10/30/18: Students learned about the Japanese art form of origami. They also learned about the terms radial design and relief sculpture. They created their own relief sculptures using origami to create their designs. I am so proud at how hard students worked on their sculptures!
10/12/18: 4th Grade has been learning about the holiday "Dia de los Muertos." We watched a video to help us understand the holiday and even referenced the Disney movie "CoCo". Students carved their own versions of sugar skulls using pencil on a foam board. They then used a printmaking technique to roll ink onto their foam and make stamps or "prints" of their sugar skull designs! To watch the short video we watched, click on the video below!
10/10/18: Fourth Grade Learned about mixed media so they could draw their own dragon eyes. They used five different materials! (Pencil, marker, colored pencil, oil pastels, and tissue paper)
