March 2021: Students learned about the paleontologist Mary Anning! They were inspired by her fossil discoveries. Students worked hard to create and label their own fossil discoveries! Check out their art, and a video about Mary Anning below!
After a busy first half of the year, the art room website is finally back! Here are some artworks that 2nd grade has been working on this year.
2nd graders used Styrofoam and pencil to carve out a pattern on the foam. They then used markers and paper to make prints of their designs! After they made four prints, they combined them and spelled out a positive four letter word on their work. We LOVE them!
2nd grade students learned about the folk artist Heather Galler. They drew their own vases of flowers in her style. They also got to use fun neon paint!
Welcome to the jungle!! 2nd grade students learned about the artist Henri Rousseau, as well as the artist Dean Russo. Combining these two artists, they created their own tigers using chalk pastel, liquid starch, and paint! Check out these cute tigers!
Students watched an informational National Geographic video about chameleons. Then, students completed a step-by-step chameleon drawing. They added color using bleeding tissue paper and then collaged a tree branch for their chameleons to live on!
