March 2021: Students looked at the art of Lucy Tiffney. They created painted floral backgrounds, and then made 3D flowers out of paper!
February 2021: Students learned about the artist Reggie Laurent! They were inspired by his use of geometric and organic shapes, and bright colors! They used collage to make their images, and added patterns using oil pastels!
After a hiatus...the art room website is finally back up and running! 3rd grade has just completed their "gallery of gratitude!" Each student chose a staff member they were thankful for and drew their portrait.
3/1/19: Students learned about VALUE. they practiced my drawing and painting their own ice cream cones of different values. Yum!
1/10/19: 3rd Grade students looked at multiple images of the Northern Lights! Then, using chalk pastels, they created their own Northern Lights landscape.
11/29/18: Students looked at multiple images of the Eiffel Tower in France! They also watched a video and learned many new facts about the Eiffel Tower. Through a stamping process called printmaking, students "printed" their own versions of the Tower and decorated using oil pastel.
11/08/18: Students learned about a mosaic artist named Jim Bachor. This artists lives in Chiago, and fills potholes in the street with his mosaics. A lot of his subject matter is food related! 3rd grade created their own mosaic collages using paper. We stuck with the food theme!
