Hello Year 3. I hope you are keeping well.
Here are some things for you to focus on and keep your brains active this week.
Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be looking at ‘Measurement: length & perimeter’. Start with these on Khan Academy:
You also have some activities related to this in Education City and Mathletics. If you haven’t done these yet, please do (remember, all your log-in details are in the front of your diary). In addition, I will be adding AMaths exercises and tests; please ensure you have completed any exercises/tests/practices that you already have in the system.
BBC Bitesize also has some great supplementary resources/videos that will help your learning.
From Monday, 20th April Bitesize will be presenting daily lessons, so keep an eye on those.
Times tables – use this website timestables.me.uk to generate speed quizzes - remember 60 questions (multiple & divide) with a 6 minute time cap – aim to get more accurate and faster over the week! FOCUS ON THE TIMES TABLES AND INVERSES YOU KNOW YOU NEED.
Get an adult/older sibling to test you at the start and end of each week. Don’t worry if you can’t print out worksheets, just use paper.
Here are some activities for you to try this week.
Spellings – work your way through this Khan Academy activity first: Introduction to the apostrophe
Then, using this spelling practice sheet here (no peeking!), get an adult/older sibling to read out the words. During the week, practice and on Friday repeat the quiz, aiming to beat Monday’s score.
Writing – write a journal describing the highs and lows of life in lockdown. Think of three positives and three negatives, describing how these make you and your family feel. Aim to write a short introduction, a good paragraph each about the positives and negatives and a conclusion explaining what you’re looking forward to most when life returns to normal. DON’T FORGET TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS, CORRECT PUNCTUATION AND INTERESTING VOCABULARY (www.thesaurus.com will give you some good ideas).
Reading – keep reading as much as you can and doing AR quizzes whenever possible. You can access the latest ‘Week Junior’ digitally, which I know you’ll all enjoy. There’s a great ‘Quiz of the Week’ on the last page; that you could do with your family. Plus, some great indoor workout ideas if you fancy a change from Joe Wicks!
Axel Scheffler (Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Stick Man, etc.) has produced a brilliant eBook to help us understand Coronavirus better – this is a lovely one to share with younger (or older!) siblings.
Other
Science – there’s loads of Science work on Education City, have a go at that if you haven’t already.
IPC – Next week we’ll begin our new IPC topic, Scavengers and Settlers – Early Man to the Iron Age. These videos from the Museum of London are a good place to start:
