Begin the day with a calm and relaxed meditation, learn about hedgehogs,
investigate these hedgehogs for yourselves, participate in Cosmic Yoga and lots of workouts, enjoy our fabulous art and cookery lessons, enjoy many stories and learn new dance steps with your family, learn your weekly spellings and practice your division, there are some great films to watch in You Choose and much, much more. Non-Fiction Writing on Nocturnal Animals – this week we will be learning about hedgehogs. Please send me your work shareyear1.2@swbschool.net
Remember your Grammar: Always use capital letters at the beginning of your sentences and full stops at the end of your sentences.
Before you write your sentence think about what you want to say. Say the words out loud. Does it make sense children? Always check your writing for spelling mistakes and punctuation.
Instructions:
1. Watch the video about HEDGEHOGS several times before you begin writing your sentences.
2. You can ask a sibling or adult to help you.
3. Make notes on a piece of paper to help you.
4. Please try and write at least 5 full sentences and send them to me.
5. You can look words up in a dictionary for example, Kids Wordsmyth ONLINE dictionary. Ask your mums or dads to download it for you.
Example Sentences:
· There are 17 different breeds of hedgehogs.
· Hedgehogs have quills on their back.

The opposite of adding is subtracting.
The opposite of subtracting is adding.
The opposite of multiplying is dividing.
The opposite of dividing is multiplying.
· This week we are doing DIVISION.
· Division is the opposite of multiplication.
· Example: If 3 x 5 = 15, what is 15 ÷ by 5? ANSWER: = 3
· Example: If 5 x 5 = 25, what is 25 ÷ by 5? ANSWER: = 5
· We will be focusing on division by 5.
· Hopefully you know your 5 x table by now lovely childen!
· At SWB we have a cunning method to help us do division calculations as follows:
EXAMPLE: 20 ÷5 = 4
· Write down the 2 x table until you reach 20
5 10 15 20
Now count how many numbers there are until you reach 20
The answer is 4
EXAMPLE 2: 30 ÷5 = 6
· Write down the 2 x table until you reach 30
5 10 15 20 25 30
Now count how many numbers there are until you reach 30
The answer is 6
