Revisit Barn Owls via our non-fiction reading comprehension. Learn how to apply the SWB ‘magic’ method for simple division calculations. Listen to the ex President of the United States of America and the ex First Lady read you a story!!!! Wow! Join in with cosmic yoga and Joe Wickes; cooking; art and lots more. Don’t forget to email me your work and become STARS OF THE WEEK!

Before you begin think of an imaginary animal friend.
Literacy
Non-Fiction Writing on Nocturnal Animals
Remember your Grammar: Always use capital letters at the beginning of your sentences and full stops at the end of your sentences.
Before you write your sentence think about what you want to say. Say the words out loud. Does it make sense children? Always check your writing for spelling mistakes and punctuation.
Instructions:
Watch the video about URBAN foxes several times before you begin writing your sentences.
Urban means town or city.
Urban foxes live in towns and cities for example, London.
You can ask a sibling or adult to help you.
Make notes on a piece of paper to help you.
Please try and write at least 5 full sentences.
You can look words up in a dictionary for example, Kids Wordsmyth ONLINE dictionary. Ask your mums or dads to download it for you.
Example Sentences:
Foxes are nocturnal animals.
URBAN foxes have adapted to their behavior to their environment and also come out in daytime.

Last week children we were learning about owls. This week I am setting a reading comprehension on Barn Owls (ATTACHED).
There are 3 different levels. The first one is the most difficult one.

LEARN MATHEMATICAL RULES
The opposite of adding is subtracting.
The opposite of subtracting is adding.
The opposite of multiplying is dividing.
The opposite of dividing is multiplying.
This week we are learning about and revisiting DIVISION.
Division is the opposite of multiplication.
Example: If 3 x 2 = 6, what is 6 ÷ by 2? ANSWER: = 3
Example: If 5 x 2 = 10, what is 10 ÷ by 2? ANSWER: = 5
We will be focusing on division by 2.
Hopefully you know your 2 x table by now lovely childen!
At SWB we have a cunning method to help us do division calculations as follows:
EXAMPLE: 12 ÷2 = 6
Write down the 2 x table until you reach 12
2 4 6 8 10 12
Now count how many numbers there are until you reach 12
The answer is 6
EXAMPLE 2: 20 ÷2 = 10
Write down the 2 x table until you reach 20
2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20
Now count how many numbers there are until you reach 20
The answer is 10
USING THE SWB METHOD ABOVE, PLEASE WORK OUT THE FOLLOWING CALCULATIONS ON A PIECE OF PAPER AT HOME.
