LEARN MATHEMATICAL RULES
-The opposite of adding is subtracting.
-The opposite of subtracting is adding.
-The opposite of multiplying is dividing.
-The opposite of dividing is multiplying.
This week we are learning and revisiting COLUMN ADDITION.
Example: In this example we are adding 23 + 54.
We know that in the number: 23 you place the 2 in the tens column and the 3 in the ones column. With the number 54 you place the 5 in the tens column and the 4 in the ones column.
Remember children we ALWAYS add the ones column FIRST then we add the tens column.
Tens Ones
2 3
+ 5 4
7 7
So we have worked out that 23 + 54 = 77.
Please complete the attached work sheets. Please do the first sheet only. The answers are on page 2 for you to check after you have worked the calculations out on your own. DO NOT do pages 3 and 4.

Our topic is: The Environment
This week we are going to learn more about owls by watching this fascinating video
There are five breeds of British owl that can be found in Greater London, but only the Tawny Owl is widespread. The Little Owl can be found in Richmond Park. The Barn Owl can be found in Hillingdon and Stanmore. The Short-Eared Owl and the Long-eared Owl are winter visitors only and can be found in Dagenham and Rainham.
The following video shows a Tawny Owl living in Regents Park London. Look at the fascinating camouflage children; you have to watch carefully to actually see the owl!
Do some research on the internet and see what you can find out about owls.
Write down some of the facts that you find out.
ALWAYS ASK YOUR PARENTS BEFORE YOU USE THE INTERNET.
