Daily Journal/Diary - Grammar:
Keep a daily Journal/Diary. Write about your day. What you did, what you can see out of the window etc. Your grammar lesson this week will explore further last week’s lesson on Nouns.
These can be Proper Nouns (the name of a name of a city Limehouse etc.) Remember children that proper nouns always begin with a capital letter.
Common Nouns are the names of things for example, bird, table, egg.
Example (Proper Noun): My sister Samah drew a beautiful picture today.
Example (Common Noun): I ate eggs this morning.
To find books online:

Science/IPC
This week in science we are going to investigate how different fruit and vegetables grow. For example, does a potato grow above the ground or below the ground? At the end of this lesson you will be able to grow your own potatoes at home!
Here is an investigation sheet. Do your own research on the internet young scientists! Record (write down) what you discover from your investigations. (fruit and veg. investigation sheet attached).
Please look at the Potato Life Cycle sheets (attached). If you don’t have a printer at home, copy the sheets onto paper by hand and sequence the 4 pictures before you grow your own potatoes!!! How exciting!
We are now going to learn how to plant our own potatoes. Please watch this video before you begin you experiment:
Here is a list of things you will need (equipment) to grow your own potatoes:
Gardening gloves/rubber Gloves (always wear gloves when you are gardening in order to protect yourself from germs and infections)
Watering can
A supervising adult or older brother or sister
1 old potato with sprouted ‘eyes’ (see video above).
Compost/soil
Large flower pot/bucket
If you do not have a garden, you can grow potatoes on a balcony or another small outdoor space (for example, outside your front door)
Don’t forget to water your potatoes!
You should have lots of potatoes in approximately 2 months time!
Before you plant your own potatoes have a look at the Science Experiment Recording sheet (attached) before you begin your experiment (Growing Potatoes).
History
This week I thought you may like to travel out of Our World (IPC topic). Let’s fly to the moon children and meet Neil Armstrong the first man on the moon in 1969. Enjoy the trip children! Buckle up trip it may be a bumpy ride!
You can only make this potato salad with Mummy/Daddy or another Grown Up – DO NOT do this alone it could be very dangerous!!!! The children in this video are Milo and Finley. Milo is young and that is why he only uses a BLUNT knife. Finley is MUCH OLDER than you that is why he was allowed to use a SHARP knife.
WARNING: DO NOT USE A SHARP KNIFE. Let your grown up do the cutting up of the spring onions.
