Academic Results Overview

We are very proud of the outstanding results achieved by students at Borlase undertaking GCSE and A Level Music, the numbers for which have continued to increase over the past few years against national trends. As of September 2025, we have 11 students in Y12/Y13 studying A Level and just under 80 students across Y9-11 studying GCSE. 

The department results are regularly in the top few % of schools nationally; since the change of specification in 2018, 88% of all students who have taken GCSE Music at Borlase have achieved Levels 9, 8 or 7 (excluding Centre Assessed Grade years). In A Level, 88% of our students have achieved an A*-B, with 100% of students achieving A*-D since 2018 (excluding Centre Assessed Grade years).
