Daily Mindfulness

Childhood anxiety is at an all time high. As academic demands increase more and more children are feeling stressed. I find that its so important to teach the whole child. As a result I have incorporated daily mindfulness activities into my day. We start every day with a brief yoga routine followed by a breathing exercise. Some days I may mix it up and do a vigorous exercise video to help alleviate jitters and get out pent up energy. After recess we do another yoga routine followed by some centered free time. We end our day with a "yoga rest" or a Shavasana. This involves lying down, breathing deep, and reflecting on our day. The hope is by incorporating these daily practices students will feel more grounded and less anxious about school. Here you will find some of the YouTube videos I use in addition to the yoga songs we do in class.
