Week of June 1st- Hello 1st grade rock stars! Let's go on a virtual field trip to the orchestra. A boy named George will get to see the musicians of a real orchestra and even get to try some of the instruments himself! Very cool huh? Let's go with him!

Sing songs that you have been singing with me and put on a concert for your families. Maybe they can go on "the stage" and sing some too! That's fun! Sing this song with me that everyone knows!

Week of May 26th- Sing those pitches- sol sol mi- also sing -do re mi. Move and feel the rhythm while you sing this song with Mrs. Hart called "Do Re Mi Tapping Song". Now sing it like you mean it!

-When you go outside try to sing like the birds do. Clap the rhythm of a woodpecker. Even trucks moving past have rhythm! What other sounds do you hear that make you think of music?

Hit the play arrow below and you will hear a medley of songs I call "Positive Vibes Medley". I call it that because the songs make you feel good. The medley contains songs from different movies that you can sing along with. A medley consists of small parts of different songs all put together as one song. Such as in one movie (like in the movie Frozen there are many different songs yet it is only one movie). Try your best at naming which movie each song comes from.

-Week of May 18th- Let's do some more echo singing with a song about Feeling Alright! We'll also sing a song about clapping your hands, feeling the rhythm and a different section.

-1st Grade Rock Stars- try making a Rain Stick ( a percussion family instrument that is similar to a maraca) out of a toilet paper roll or even a paper towel roll. Put a piece of paper or cloth or foil and wrap it around one end the toilet paper or paper towel roll and hold it in place with an elastic band. The open end you can fill with rice or popcorn kernels (don't cook them). Place another piece of paper, cloth or foil on the other end and place the other elastic band around the end so that the rice or popcorn won't fall out. Now you have a rain stick. It sounds like a maraca just move it side to side. Color it with whatever colors you want.

-Now use your rain stick to help you sing the songs and feel the rhythm.

-Don't forget finish the musical story of Peter and the Wolf and learn about the instruments!
