Home-School Partnerships

Our Home/School Partnership programme provides many ways for our school community to interact with our staff. We focus on empowering families, students and staff to strengthen learner focused relationships for the benefit of all.

Strong Home and School Partnerships are vital to maximise student learning. They offer the opportunity to exchange information about the student’s interests, learning, development and well-being. By working together, realistic goals can be set and then progress can be supported, tracked and feedback given.

Parents, whanau and the community are welcomed and involved in school activities. They lead our cultural groups and some sports teams, support our EOTC and learning programmes, and work harmoniously with our leaders, teachers and support staff. We actively seek the expertise within our community to enhance learning opportunities, achievement and hauora. Regular, timetabled consultation (both written and oral, informal and formal) supports our decision making.

We work with parents and whanau to establish reasonable, purposeful hometasks. Being involved in out of school art, music, dance, drama and sporting activities is acknowledged as a significant part of childhood development. Therefore, our expectation is that every child read every night and engage in research, where appropriate, to follow their own interest (possibly linked to a class or individual inquiry)..

Successful transition to school, between classes and to new schools is an important element in providing a seamless learning journey. We work alongside our parents and whanau, outside agencies and the schools within our Community of Learning to establish effective practice.
