This property was constructed sometime between 1870 - 1890 by Ira T. Clement (1813-1898) as a private residence. As a young man, Ira trained as a carpenter before moving into merchandising. He then moved onto the lumber manufacturing business, employing 125 people. He owned a mill and sold lumber, furniture, and coffins. He was also the president of the Sunbury Steam Ferry and Tow Boat Company, which operated steamboat ferries transporting people and goods between Northumberland, Shamokin Dam, and Sunbury. His wife, Sarah Martz had twelve children, only two of whom were surviving at the time of his death.
At some point, the house was renovated to be a bed and breakfast. The Riverview Inn Bed & Breakfast operated for a number of years. At some point, the Inn closed and the property fell into disrepair.
Rob and Juniper purchased the property from the City in September 2021. They worked with local contractors, notably Tony Wells Construction, to restore the house to its former glory. The names of the rooms were kept original to the Inn. They reopened the property in August 2022 to guests once again.
