Yes and No. Sunflower Manor is a historic Victorian mansion offering a boutique lodging experience. While each guest room has a private bath, the house is best understood as a thoughtfully restored private residence rather than a conventional hotel.
Guests who enjoy character, architectural detail, and a lived-in sense of place tend to feel most at home here.
The home is heated and cooled using modern systems adapted to a historic structure. Because of the age and size of the house, temperature and airflow may vary slightly between rooms and floors, particularly during seasonal transitions. All rooms have space heaters to allow individual heat adjustment.
We provide guidance and tools to help guests adjust their comfort as needed. Guests who prefer perfectly uniform climate control throughout a building may be more comfortable in a modern hotel setting.
Sunflower Manor is generally peaceful, especially in the evenings. Soundproofing has been added between the second and third floors and there are storm windows throughout the house that further dampen noise. That said, as a large historic home some sound may carry between floors, and exterior sounds from the surrounding town or riverfront may be audible at times. All rooms come with a sound machine and complementary earplugs to help sensitive sleepers.
Yes. The house is ideally suited for full-house stays. Booking the entire manor offers maximum privacy, comfort, and flexibility, and tends to create the most relaxed guest experience.
Yes. Individual rooms are available when the house is not reserved as a full buyout.
Guests booking individual rooms should be comfortable sharing common spaces with other respectful guests and appreciate the communal nature of a historic home.
Children are welcome when the entire house is booked by one group. Due to architectural features such as staircases, antique elements, and shared spaces, the property may not be ideal for unsupervised children. The house has not been safety-proofed for the protection of small children and we do not have toys or a gameroom.
This is a historic property that is not fully ADA accessible. Stairs are required to access guest rooms. Guests with mobility concerns are encouraged to reach out prior to booking so we can help determine whether the space will be comfortable for them.
If cancelled at least two weeks before your booking, you will receive a full refund minus credit card processing fees.
