Foothill School Farm

The Foothill High School Farm is a 2-acre lab facility designed to enhance the "learn by doing" philosophy of the Foothill Agriculture Department.

The centerpiece of the farm is a 5,000 square foot pavilion. This building serves as our monthly meeting place for Foothill FFA, and the hub of our entire program. The animal science program is also centered in the pavilion and includes lamb, goat, and hog facilities. Construction of this pavilion began in 2019 and was completed in 2021 for full student use.

The plant science program features a greenhouse and a vineyard with both wine and table grape varieties. Students, with the assistance of local community members, established the vineyard trellis system in 2020 and planted zinfandel, cabernet sauvignon, and vermentino wine grapes in the Spring 2021 semester. Grapes from the "Cougar Creek" vineyard will be used in both the cafeteria/culinary programs on campus, as well as to teach students enology concepts in the classroom.

All farm facilities were established for students in Foothill Agriculture to have hands-on learning right within walking distance of the ag classrooms. The farm generates thousands of dollars of income each year for students through their livestock projects and plant sales.
