SUFC Ladies Football & Education Programme - 100% at the CLUB

This is a full time course that offers you the opportunity to develop your education in sport, footballing skills as well as employability skills.

Not only is this course just football specific but it gives a wider understanding of the types of activities undertaken by sport professionals. It provides an introduction to the sector for learners looking to build a career in one of a variety of areas including careers in teaching, exercise and fitness, coaching and leadership, sports development and ofcourse, a route into elite ladies football.


The course is made up of a range sport specific units and you will typically learn about: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, Sport Coaching, Assessing Risk in Sport, Fitness Training and Programming, Sports Injuries, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Sport Development, and many more.

Alongside the academic aspect of the course, you will represent SUFC Ladies U18 with a possibility of breaking into the development and 1st team.

You will undertake football training four times per week, coached by uefa licensed coaches. You will utilse enhanced modern technology to analyse your training sessions and games. In addition, you will have chances to see medical and 1st aid trained staff to support any injuries or rehabilitation programmes.

In addition to your football participation and education course, you are expected to carry out relevent work placed learning. Here at SUFC we offer:

Furthermore, you will be expected to study GCSE maths and English if you do not already possess it at grade C (4) or above and will have the opportunity to study for additional qualifications such as National Governing Body awards which include: Community Sports Leadership Award, Basketball Activators as well as FA Level 1 in Coaching Football.


This Level 3 course is a progression into higher education or employment in the field of sport. 100% of our learners since 2013 have had offers to stay in Higher Education. Learners who study the Diploma will need to achieve the Higher Level 3 in Sports Leadership to be offered a place in Higher Education.

Do you attend any education visits? Yes, we annually visit Loughborough University, the National Football Museum, St Georges Park as well as many more trips our influenced by our Student Voice scheme.

What is the coach academy scheme? This scheme is set up for volunteers who want to be a sports coach. If you volunteer 30 hours, assisting one of our fully qualified sports coaches then we will help support and fund a coaching qualification of your interest. The more hours you complete, the more qualifications you can gain!

Can I study GCSE mathematics and GCSE English elsewhere? No, as part of your study programme at Sheffield United you will study GCSE maths and English at our facility. We promote employing a personal tutor but this can’t be a replacement.
